As an advanced first stage warning, all participants travelling to the Llanelli Waterside Half Marathon and the Great Welsh Marathon, please be aware that due to a major bridge repair (Lower Trostre Road - Railway Bridge) in Llanelli ... there will be diversion routes in-place.
Each participant will be emailed information about the best route to take to the event headquarters in lieu of the diversions.
Information will also be supplied in the event packs which are currently being posted.

EVENT PACKS ...
The Llanelli Waterside Half Marathon event packs will start being distributed from ... 1st February 2012. The packs will containing your timing chip, race number and event information. The distribution will continue through the month of February.

On a cool Sunday morning, the 6th Llanelli Waterside Half Marathon was a huge success, with hundreds of runners and supporters from across the UK visiting Llanelli to take part in and support one of the best events in Wales. The event again saw support from Carmarthenshire County Council, the Llanelli Star, Welsh Athletics, Tri-Exercise and the Millennium Coastal Park Management.
The half marathon was organised and hosted by Human Being Active and is part of a highly popular series of sporting events. Through the events, HBA and their participants are able to raise thousands of pounds each year for national and local charities and other worthy causes in Carmarthenshire. The Millennium Coastal Park encompasses the Llanelli Waterside and overlooks the spectacular Gower Peninsula.
It features an unique array of attractions linked together by a stunning 22km traffic-free coastal path / cycle-way, stretching from Bynea Gateway in the east through to Pembrey Country Park in the west.
For the activity minded there are plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling, playing golf, horse riding, fishing and canoeing.
For the more sedate there are beautiful gardens to visit such as The National Botanic garden of Wales, Norwood and Aberglasney.
